Welcome to the IB PYP Library Learning Commons (LLC)
Each classroom has a dedicated library time of 50 minutes where students are able to exchange books, borrow a diverse and inclusive collection of over 9,000 titles and use the 20 netbooks and 5 ipads kept within this space.
The SHG LLC is a very popular space in our school and is a place for creativity and collaboration while also preserving a physical space for quiet reading and study.
Our collection holds popular fiction including manga, graphic novels, a dedicated intermediate teen read section, popular non-fiction, as well as curriculum resources, multilingual titles and an interactive whiteboard for instruction.
Media literacy instruction and library citizenship is taught from Grade 1-8 and includes the following:
- making connections through story
- literacy
- evaluating websites
- research, keyword searching
- citation and bibliographies
- novel studies
- book clubs
